Well, isn’t it all
too cute. Felicity Jones does that cute look she does, complete with a fetching
pout and that bunny rabbit-like expression in her eyes. You are charmed to
death, if not by her then by Eddie Redmayne’s sweet-intelligent portrayal of
Stephen Hawking. Brainy is the new sexy, apparently.
You have to appreciate the willingness to avoid clichés (after all, this could be really, really bad) and it is a good film, with heart and style, but Christ almighty why does it all seem so fucking cute. Even the goddamned priest looks the part.
